SheDecides is marking five years of collective commitment, action and progress for the right for all women, girls and young people to decide about their body, life and future.
Now more than ever we need strong political leadership and joint coordinated efforts across regions, sectors and actors. Rights are increasingly at risk around the world in the context of Covid-19, increased opposition and backlash on gender equality, sexual and reproductive rights, a shrinking civic and democratic space, and decreasing financial and political support at national and global level.
We are coming together to celebrate our collective achievements to advance bodily autonomy and SRHR, to discuss the current challenges the world is facing, and how we can together as a movement re-commit to our common purpose: building a world where SheDecides about her body, life and future.
We are guided by our theory of change:
If
we convene and strengthen our movement and build linkages to important allies,
So that
we (as a movement) are better able to take joint political action that can effectively advance global commitments and accountability towards bodily autonomy and SRHR,
Then
we will be better positioned to use our collective power and amplified voice to counter opposition and support all women, girls and young people to have the right to decide over their body, life and future.
And our strategic pillars:
Convene & Strengthen
We will come together to reinforce and strategically expand the SheDecides movement, and forge alliances between movement members and new potential allies.
Take Political Action
We will build on movement strength by coordinating strategic political action and joint efforts to demand accountability for political and financial commitments for bodily autonomy.
Amplify & Speak Out
We will leverage the bold SheDecides brand and the power of our shared communication platform to amplify collective messages and political action, and create opportunities for progressive voices to speak out to a broader, global audience.
SheDecides+5, Brussels
On 19 and 20 May, SheDecides Champions, partners and allies are coming together to celebrate achievements over the past five years, and to commit to continue taking joint political action and speaking out for bodily autonomy and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Hosted by SheDecides Champion the Government of Belgium, SheDecides+5 is an important opportunity to connect with other Champions, introduce new Champions to the movement, renew inspiration, strategize and build smart partnerships, and to strengthen the political nature of SheDecides as a global movement.
